Tis The Season
I just read a very disturbing article in our Sunday paper. The article listed the top 5 seasonal scams. The 2 that concerned me the most were:
1. Gift Card Scam - The would be thief takes gift cards off the display in a super market or other retail store that has them on display and scans the code through the scratch off covering and gets the code for that gift card. The thief then checks the gift card call center to see when the card is activated and for how much. Before the person you bought the card for can spend a dime, the thief has used up the cards value.
2. Greeting Card Scam - You get an ecard from someone that you are not sure you know, but it is the season to get holiday cards and you open it. Wham, you get malware on your PC and you are infected. Don't open ecards unless you recoginize the sender and the company that the card is sent from. Reperable ecard companies send you a coformation code to retrieve your card.
So, it is the season for joy and assholes, beware of what you get.....

Damn and I was just about to send out my morbid "ecards" to you guys also that's pretty bad about the gift cards, I guess there's no way to check though until you try to spend it.

The you have just won money scams are big with the senior population (they always are looking for free food or money).
