End of this year, but if you buy now they will announce a beta download sooner and 'beta testing events' will be held, so you'll be playing sooooon ;-)

I won't prepurchase until they give us a release date. Look what happened to Duke Nukem Forever and don't say that won't happen here. It can happen to any game if they go over budget.

Actually, it is your wife's money, you only get an allowance. So, do with it as you please my friend. I have not decided on buying GW2 yet.

Ok the link doesn't seem to work :-) And I was not pleased with FRAPS since I could only record for 30 seconds so I have uninstalled it and deleted the 2 recordings I made by mistake... :-(

I must say I'm not that Impressed by the gameplay...

The graphics are awesome and all, but as was to be expected by postponing this game all the time talking about it's awesomeness... I wanted more... Here's what I don't like in a nutshell:

  • What botheres me most is that I can't seem to 'zoom out' far enough to have a good look at my surroundings. It feels like looking at a goldfish in a bowl, while you are inside the bowl, and your 'camera' feels bigger than the bowl... (maybe I'm not getting the picture through here Shocked )

  • I don't really like the way you get 'missions' ... I fear that NOT helping out in 'events' will damage my character in some way.

  • I also hate that the tutorial/personal story by itself does not give you enough XP to grow you - then again this was a BETA TEST so, it could be that there is an actual tutorial you can take that has not been implemented yet...

  • I really hope there will be a tutorial of sorts, becaurse you can gather all sorts of resources that can be used in professions - but I don't really understand wether you can do all proffesions or have to pick one or two... I did experiment somewhat with crafting armor and I do LIKE the idea (like in WOW) you will be able to 'create' stuff yourself.

  • after being killed you can wait around to be revived (that is free) but you do get a DP (Death Penalty) - your armor gets busted (you can fix it in a repairshop) and your health goes down, not sure if there are any other effects - OR you can 'maptravel' back to life, the only problem there is that a 'maptravel' costs money... So be sure to have some coin on you ALL THE TIME (it is cheap like 12 cents or the further you want to travel the more it costs...)

  • Call me oldfashioned, but I'm not a big fan of the event system - I miss the good old NPC with an exclamation mark above the heads that give you something to do, and only then, when you talk to them. As it is now, you get an alert popping up 'new event close by' and then you have the choice to help out, or not... - problem for me is, and I might be wrong - I feel like I 'activate' the event somehow by walking past a certain place, so I feel responsable - even if I didn't trigger it and the event is clearly halfway through - anyway, what I'm trying to say is that they announced the game to be made in such a way that if you don't help out when centaurs attack a town the centaurs might take over preventing you from ever going to that town again... Do you catch my drift? Or am I talking BS again?

I think that sums it up - I did have fun, don't get me wrong - I WILL be playing this a lot (it cost me enough damnit) - but for me, there was no WAAAAAAW that I've been hearing about on the internet almost everywhere... oh almost forgot this one:
  • I haven't found the RUN/WALK button yet and would really like one!!

Other stuff I can tell you about:
Weapons:
If you pick up a weapon that you can use (there are some that are restricted to certain professions) you can equip it unlocking the first (and only the first) skill of the skillbar with a total of 5 slots. Using the weapong unlocks the next slot gradually.

Fighting:
The fighting is chaotic at first and I think the battles are harder than in GW. You can't lure as easy as you could in GW, or at least it feels this way. It feels like the game looks at how many players are in the active zone of an event and creates foes to have a balanced game, only they keep coming even after half of the human players are down (and not revived - yet). Not sure if this is true, but it feels like that! I cant honeslty say (in close combat) what targets I'm trying to hit if there are multiple.

Other stuff you want to know about? ASK, I might now more than I remember to put up this post.

And again, sorry for the fucked up video... drunken

Wow Bob that must be the longest most detailed post I've seen from you. Good job, even I as someone who has never played GW understood what your point. One thing I don't understand is how you made the jump from "plenty of screeshots" to "video". Wink

great job on the review bob but dont forget it's just beta so
lets hope they listen to peopls probs in the game and sort them out.
too many games the developers have ignored players and the game ends up pants.
crafting armour is great we did that in warhammer as for the death penalty when u get revived is a good idea. as for the events there always good for xp and items you may need.
sounds like an awesome game cant wait to play it.
